YogaRoots On Location® Certified Yoga Teacher Training is an AntiRacism and Social Justice Raja Yoga Teacher Training offered through the Yoga Alliance's 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) Certification. This 11-month long training is rooted in Raja Yoga's 8-Limbed Path of study and centered by Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. 

This yoga teacher training includes 25% Racial and Social Justice work, 25% Physical Yoga practice, and 50% Raja Yoga practice.

What?

RAJA YOGA'S 8-LIMBed path

Postures, Breathing Techniques, Behavioral Restraints, Behavioral Observances, Sensory Withdrawal, Concentration, Meditation and Self-Realization will be practiced throughout the training with an acute awareness of how these practices relate to our own self-awareness, self-care and how we live out the practices of inclusivity and our social justice passions, which will assist us all in working towards being a more humane society.

Social Justice exploration, AntiRacist Framework

We explore Social Justice passions through the trauma-informed lens of Raja Yoga a combined AntiRacist framework of intimately exploring Community-based AntiRacist Organizing with the People’s Institute For Survival and Beyond’s Undoing Racism Principles©, Racial Equity framework that challenges patterns of Power and Grow Equity with the Racial Equity Institue©, and Ego-Reduction/Gatekeepers Academy with the Soul Focused Group. The Social Justice topics include: Literacy Justice, Reproductive Justice, Economic Justice, Restorative Justice, Food Justice, Pleasure Justice, Criminal Justice, Disabilities Rights, LGBTQi Rights, and Healing Justice.

HOLISTIC APPROACH

The yoga postures and breathing techniques will be taught using an anatomy and physiology framework, starting from the gross to the subtle anatomy. Students will receive training in the use of movement, essential oils, Reiki, and nutritional support in an effort to practice contemplative care to aid in managing one’s own: Pain, Anxiety, Nausea, Insomnia, Constipation, Exhaustion, Anger and Rage.

Mental Health First Aid, Young Living Essential OilsStrengthsFinder, Astrology Chart Readings, Korean Spa visit, Silent Retreat and Numerology Readings will supplement the curriculum along with encouraging you to vulnerably share who you are with our cohort in order to continue to express your own voice and facilitate understanding and compassion among us all.
